a very quilty visit

Recently we took a roadtrip to the land of horse and buggy’s, where hillsides and pastures extend farther than the eye can see. The rural countryside is so quaint and peaceful. Lancaster and its surrounding towns feel like the quilt capital of the northeast! During our visit, we explored farms, local Amish culture and so many quilt shops! I thought I would share this post as a little quilt tour guide of Lancaster, hope you enjoy!

This large barn-style quilt shop was full of endless aisles of quilty goodness. I stood in awe at the quality of these quilts made by local Amish ladies. This shop had an incredible selection of fabrics, notions and exquisite quilts. They had the largest and most intricate quilts I’ve ever seen!

Fisher’s Handmade Quilts

This charming quilt shop is seated above a yummy eatery. These lovely quilts are displayed with care and the space is so pleasant to stroll around and admire the impeccable patchwork and fine needlework of the Amish.

A modern quilter’s haven, this shop is a must-see! Carefully curated with modern fabrics, notions and patterns, I could have browsed here for hours & hours. They carry such beautiful fabrics that I had to indulge in a few yards. With such a homey feel, the store offers the most adorable sewing knick-knacks which add a bit of whimsy to the practicality of everyday stitching. They sell exquisite quilts, handcrafted art and a wonderful assortment of books & pieces for the cozy but modern home. I picked up this darling book that has shed so much light on what it truly means to lead a quiet and simple life.

Next door to the storefront, the Old Country Store has a sewing school so large it puts any home economics classroom to shame. It was so hopeful to see such a school exist to preserve the art and love for sewing!

This was the highlight of my Lancaster quilt shopping experience. It is such a lovely shop that it even draws in customers from around the world, like a sweet couple I met visiting from England!

Nancy’s Corner was full of stacks upon stacks of quilts. Such a cozy corner. Nancy’s Notions offers a wide range of supplies and fabrics.

This collection of quilts felt like walking through a museum of art! The first glance at the mural on the side of the shop, I knew it was going to be an “on-another-level” kind of quilt shop. The cute bunting banner is so welcoming and upon entering the shop, I was delighted by how bright and cheerful the atmosphere is. This shop has such a stunning gallery display of gorgeous, heirloom-style quilts!

Other shops in the Lancaster area we, unfortunately, did not have time to visit:
